Jon Steele is quickly becoming a busy bass player in DC. He’s been working with many of the city’s great jazz musicians and artists from all over the world including, Chiek Hamala, Allyn Johnson, Tedd Baker, Huda Asfour, Jeff Antoniuk, Thad Wilson, Sitali Siyolwe, Todd Marcus, Dana Hawkins, the Great Noise Ensemble, Twins Jazz Orchestra, and many, many more.

Originally from the southeast, Jon studied music at the University of Tennessee and received degrees in Studio Music/Jazz and Double Bass Performance. He studied bass with Rusty Holloway and music with Donald Brown. Upon graduation, he worked all over the east coast playing with big bands, symphonies, soca bands, jam bands…pretty much everything but country. In the course of playing so many styles, Jon has developed a deep love for the groove and chops to play some very difficult bass.

In 2016, Jon released his first album as a band leader. The CD features original compositions and arrangements played by some incredible musicians from DC, Baltimore, New York, and LA.
